More About This Virtual Event
Juneteenth is a day of remembrance in our country, yet countless people know about deep the historical significance of this day despite it now being a federal holiday.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery by marking the day enslaved people in Texas learned they were technically free... nearly two years AFTER the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth comes with its own traditions – for example, the celebration includes many red foods, which were a symbol of resistance to the attempts to kill African cultures in the US. Learn this one and many more ways you can show support.
What significance does this holiday hold today, in “modern times”, when black people are still intentionally pulled into the prison industrial complex and black women still have a much higher death rate during births in the US – the highest in ALL industrialized countries?
How does this impact diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the US?
There is much to be learned through the celebration of Juneteenth with history, truth, and black joy this year.
This keynote event is ideal for celebrations at your company, conference, college, or community events.
Show you care. Become an ally.
