More About This Virtual Event
In this course, we’ll practice using the power of our own speech to create captivating stories for connection and influence.
Your Story: Well Told is ideally suited toward marketing and communications teams or leadership groups, who are looking to develop or polish the ways they communicate, internal and external to their organizations.
This workshop is also helpful for memoirists and other nonfiction writer groups looking for ways to clear the scary clutter of “Where should I start?” and start framing their own experiences and memories as stories.
You’ll learn and work with different story structures, and try telling the same “story” through different lenses—using flashbacks, flash forwards, subplots, callbacks, and more.
Understanding how structures can impact your stories will make you a better and more fluid storyteller, both oral and written.
In addition to sharing your stories, you’ll receive feedback in a positive, supportive environment, with clear guidance to help shape your stories into final products. You’ll come away with a toolkit of structures and editing techniques to concoct, shape, and polish great stories in the future.
We will meet online as a large group, occasionally breaking into pairs using breakout rooms.
Each storytelling activity will include a debrief discussion so the participants can reflect and synthesize how the experiences connect to our lives and teams.
This Experience is perfect for team-building and critical business-skill development. Book a private experience for your group.
HOSTED BY
Corey Rosen
I am considered a master storyteller and improv coach.
I host "The Moth" StorySlam in San Francisco. I've been a company improv player at BATS Improv since 2004. My book, "Your Story, Well Told," was the #1 new release for Public Speaking Reference on Amazon when released (March 30, 2021).
I love bringing teams of people together through playful exercises that allow us to connect as people through our stories. Applied Improvisation is taught to businesspeople worldwide to improve their communication, collaboration, storytelling, presentation and active listening skills - and it's really the most fun way to learn.
I have a degree from Northwestern University and credits on dozens of movies as a VFX Artist as well. I live in San Francisco with my wife (also an improvisor and teaching artist for young children) and 2 teenage kids.
